The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God (II Peter 1:21). It is the truth of God (John 17:17), inspired by the Spirit of Bible Study truth (John 16:13).
The Bible lays down the plan of salvation for the world through the person and work of Jesus Christ.
As we read the Bible so we get to know the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus said of the Scriptures “these are they which speak of me” (John 5:39).
We believe that God still speaks today and one of the ways that He communicates with us is through His written word – the Bible. We have a desire to hear what God is saying to His church today and therefore we look at the Bible to see what God says to us.
We believe that God’s Word is still relevant: to this generation; to the church of Jesus Christ and to our community, therefore we want to know how God wants to lead us and speak to us which He can do through the Scriptures.
We believe that the Bible is a manual for life, that it: teaches us; corrects us; strengthens us; trains us and equips us (II Timothy 3:16). Therefore, we want to know how to live in accordance with God’s standards, which we find laid out for us in the Bible.
We want to grow in the knowledge of the Bible, but also in the knowledge of God, we find that we do that through the studies as we visit different parts of the Bible and as we discover how to apply the Bible’s teachings in our own lives.
We find in group Bible study that we are able to speak freely and to share a variety of thoughts and points of view, this is helpful in teaching us to respect the opinions of everyone and that no single person has all the answers – except God.
We meet for Bible study on Thursday evenings at 7:15pm.
In the study of the Bible we all want to become like the Bereans who “received the message with gladness and examined the Scriptures every day” (Acts 17:11).
